The European cofinancing

The Commission provides funding in the form of grants to projects or organisations which help implement EU policies. Grants are provided in the field of civil justice.

During 2009-2014, the ENRWA has completed three projects co-financed by the European Commission :

- The project "Europe wills" : January 2009 to March 2010.

- The project "Interconnecting European Registers of Wills" (IRTE) : October 2010 to September 2012.

- The project "Cross-Border Wills" (CroBoWills) (December 2012- November 2014).

These three projects were cofunded by the European Commission within the framework of the Specific Programme “Civil Justice” 2007-2013, aimed to eliminate obstacles to the smooth functioning of cross-border civil proceedings in EU countries and thereby to improve the daily life of individuals and businesses by fostering access to justice.

Henceforth replaced by the Justice program, the focus of the Civil Justice programme was :

- fostering judicial cooperation in civil matters ;

- improving mutual knowledge of EU countries’ legal and judicial systems in civil matters professions and legal practitioners ;

- ensuring the sound implementation, the correct and concrete application and the evaluation of Community instruments in the area of judicial cooperation in civil and commercial matters ;

- improving information on the legal systems EU countries and access to justice.

For further information on the "Justice" programme, go to the European Commission site, heading “Justice Programme”.
