class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Mission and values<\/h5>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-811fcbf elementor-widget class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">The Association of the European Network of Registers of Wills (ENRWA)\nFounded in 2005 by the Belgian, French and Slovenian notariats, ENRWA is an international non-profit association governed by Belgian law. It operates within the framework of the <b>Basel Convention<\/b> on the Establishment of a System for the Registration of Wills (16 May 1972).<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">The ENRWA enables Member States with a register of last wills and testaments to interconnect these registers. Thanks to this network, any European citizen can identify the wills left by a deceased person, regardless of the country of registration. This system thus facilitates the management of <b>cross-border successions.<\/b>.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">Since 2015,  the ENRWA has extended its activities to <b>European Certificates of Succession (ECS),<\/b>introduced by European Regulation No 650\/2012. The competent authorities can use it to search for the issuance of an EIC in another Member State bound by this Regulation (excluding Ireland and Denmark).<\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: normal;\">Key actions to fulfil its mission:<\/p><ul><li><b>Encourage<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">\u00a0the creation and interconnection of will registers in Europe;<br \/><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\"><b>Raise awareness<\/b>\u00a0among notaries and legal professionals about the use of the ENRWA and the challenges of cross-border succession;<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\"><b>Communicate\u00a0<\/b>with notaries and the public about the mission and actions of the ENRWA<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\"><b>Develop and manage<\/b>\u00a0security protocols related to the registers and the financial sustainability of the initiative.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><b>ENRWA core values<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">The ENRWA is based on the principles of the 1972 Basel Convention:\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li><b>Respect for national specificities:<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">\u00a0taking into account the specific legal environments in the process of interconnecting registers;<\/span><\/li><li><b>Confidentiality<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\"> : registers undertake to keep information about wills secret during the testator's lifetime and to allow consultation upon presentation of the death certificate.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The association is committed to continually developing and improving its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arert.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Politique-Qualite-ARERT-EN.pdf\">quality management system<\/a><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-81f7747 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"81f7747\" fulfil one of the following conditions :<\/p><ul><li>be a European Union Notariat, or<\/li><li>be a Notariat in a country having the status of a European Union candidate country, or<\/li><li>be designated by the competent authority as being the administrator(s) of the register of wills or, failing designation by the competent authority, comply with the criteria set by the association, or<\/li><li>be a candidate for the establishment of such a register in accordance with the criteria set by the Association.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Applications for membership must be sent in
