In September 2026, the President of ARERT, Ms Cosita Delvaux, answered questions put to her by Gorka R. Pérez on behalf of the Consejo General del Notariado and the journal *Escritura Pública*.
She outlined the key priorities of her term of office: strengthening the interconnection of will registers, extending this cooperation to the registers of European Certificates of Succession (ECS) and consolidating dialogue with the European institutions.
In this interview, Ms Delvaux emphasised the importance of ARERT’s mission in ensuring that an estate is not settled without taking into account the existence of a will. She also highlights ARERT’s commitment to the development of the European Certificates of Succession (ECS), in particular through the digitisation of the processes for issuing, consulting and verifying them. In her view, the use of technology must remain at the service of the safeguards provided by notaries. Given the expected increase in the number of estates in the coming years, the modernisation of will registers represents a concrete response to strengthening legal certainty.
